The tires don’t have any grip in the vacuum of space, so the brakes wouldn’t work anyway!

Also brake rotors are heavy.

Likely removed to try to balance the mass of the payload. A Tesla wasn’t exactly designed to be launched on a rocket.

I’m sure anything that could possibly explode when exposed to the vacuum of space was removed. Things like gas pressurized shocks, hydraulic lines, real tires - all gone.
